Sri Lanka Business Forum

Under the patronage of the Sri Lankan Embassy the first meeting of the Sri Lanka business forum was held at the Embassy premises at 4.30 p.m on 30th March 2012 with the attendance of 45 participants from various fields, such as academics, business dignitaries, company CEOO  and business professionals.

 

Two well-known Sri Lankan economists Dr. Hemasiri Kotagama and Dr. Sarath Kodituwakku, who are presently attached to the Sultan Qaboos University of Oman made presentations on economic situation in Oman and Sri Lanka including an insight and goals of the Forum.

 

H.E. the Ambassador explained the objectives of the business forum. He said that it will open a dialogue with business community in Oman with regard to have strong business links with Sri Lanka. It may be export oriented business, joint venture, establishment of company or investment opportunity either in Sri Lanka or in Oman and the Forum will act as a facilitator, mediator, advisor or counselor in this regard.

 

This Forum is expected to organize a Sri Lankan Trade Fair and promotional activities in future to explore the potential market for Sri Lankan products in the Sultanate of Oman.

 

The Forum will bridge the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Chamber of Commerce & Industries of Oman with a view to enhancing and promoting the existing trade ties between the two countries.

 

The Business Forum will assist interested companies in Sri Lanka to expand their trade and investment activities. For more information the companies or interested parties can communicate with the Forum through the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman.
