66th National Day Celebrations on 4th February 2014 at the Residence of H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Oman.

Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Sultanate of Oman celebrated 66th National Day on February 04th on a grand scale under the patronage of His Excellency Asoka Girihagama, Ambassador for Sri Lanka.
The celebration commenced at 10.30 am at the Residence of the Ambassador by hoisting the National flag while playing Magul Bera and singing the National Anthem. Over 500 Sri Lankan community members including community leaders attended the function.

The audience observed two-minutes silence in honor of the fallen war heroes. A group of Sri Lankan teenagers from the Sri Lankan School Muscat performed Jayamanagla Gatha.
Community leaders were invited to light the traditional oil lamp with the Ambassador.
Religious observances were performed according to Buddhist, Hindu, Islam and Christian traditions respectively.
Messages of H.E the President, Hon. Prime Minister and Hon. Minister of External Affairs were read out.
H.E the Ambassador delivered a speech by highlighting elimination of terrorism from Sri Lanka soil, current development activities and achievements in year 2013 namely, opening of the Omani Embassy in Colombo, purchasing the Sri Lankan Embassy building in Oman and obtaining a land block for the Sri Lankan Community Social Club in Oman.
After the vote of thanks and cutting the National Day cake, traditional Sri Lankan foods were served to the participants.
