12/3/2013 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM DIPLOMATIC CHARITY BAZAAR TO BE HELD IN MUSCAT AFTER 12 YEARS

The Ambassadors’ Wives Group on Monday announced the holding of the Diplomatic Charity Bazaar 2013 at a press conference held at the Sri Lankan ambassador’s residence.

The event will be held at the Afrah Ballroom in Grand Hyatt Muscat on December 7, and it will be inaugurated by H H Sayyida Dr Muna bint Fahd al Said.

All the proceeds from the event will go to the Association for the Welfare of Handicapped Children.

The last charity bazaar in Muscat was held 12 years ago. As many as 23 embassies will participate in the event.

The bazaar will offer visitors culturally diverse experience in terms of cuisine and crafts. It will also include performances from Palestine, Lebanon, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia. A raffle draw will also be organised at the event.

Ticket for the draw can be purchased at the bazaar for RO2.

Manar Hussain Massrieh, president of the Diplomatic Charity Bazaar and wife of the ambassador of Palestine said, “The event will help visitors experience 23 different cultures.”

Sudarma Girihagama, wife of the ambassador of Sri Lanka, said, “We hope the response is good as the bazaar is being held in Muscat after a long time. This is also a fund-raising event. We also wish to thank Grand Hyatt and all the corporates supporting us in this initiative.

Sumiyyah Baasit, wife of the ambassador of Kenya, Ina Von Reibnitz, wife of the ambassador of Germany, Dounghatai Danivivathana, wife of the ambassador of Thailand and Maya Jabre, wife of the ambassador of Lebanon were also present at the event.

Entry to the bazaar is free and open for the public from 10.30am to 4pm.
